Who Is This Person?
The Professional Origin Story
I'm Sherry Jones. Senior IT professional, automation enthusiast, and the person your infrastructure has been waiting for. With 15+ years spanning healthcare, education, and tech, I've built environments from scratch, led post-merger tenant migrations, eliminated over $1M in documented costs, and secured systems that had absolutely no business being that exposed. I combine deep technical expertise with the rare ability to actually plan something and then execute it properly.
The Actual Work
Here's what that looks like in practice. I've managed 350-server data centers in HIPAA-regulated medical environments where downtime wasn't an option. I've reduced onboarding and offboarding time by 85% through automation when nobody wanted to admit the old process was broken. I've migrated organizations off legacy platforms, consolidated multi-tenant Azure environments, and deployed MDM solutions across hybrid Mac and PC fleets without breaking a sweat or a SLA. I've secured healthcare and education environments where compliance isn't a suggestion, implemented endpoint management across thousands of devices, and delivered infrastructure upgrades that supported 200% device growth without a single unplanned outage. The common thread in all of it is the same: find the problem, design the right solution, build it clean, and document everything so the next person isn't starting from zero.
Currently Leveling Up
I’m pursuing an MS in Computer Science with an AI concentration, because intelligent IT automation is already here and I intend to be extremely good at it. ITIL 4 certified. Slightly obsessed with making complex infrastructure problems look effortless. Open to Senior Systems Administrator and Systems Engineer roles where I can build, improve, and automate without a single management meeting on my calendar. For the right company, I’d even deal with the management meetings, as long as there’s still plenty of project fun
The Human Behind the Terminal
When I'm not untangling someone's network or automating a process that should have been automated three years ago, I'm running a small hobby farm in South Georgia. Yes, I have goats. Yes, they have opinions about everything and zero respect for boundaries, which honestly makes them excellent company. The chickens are more agreeable but considerably less interesting. Between wrangling livestock and keeping servers happy, I've found that patience, adaptability, and knowing when something is about to go sideways are skills that transfer remarkably well between both environments.
The Traveler
I'm also a passionate traveler with a deep love for history, culture, and the kind of perspective you can only get by actually standing somewhere and taking it in. Walking the streets of London and feeling the weight of centuries of history in every cobblestone is the kind of thing that resets your brain completely. Rome hits differently when you realize the infrastructure holding up the Colosseum has outlasted entire civilizations. Travel has taught me that the best solutions are rarely the obvious ones and that the most interesting stories belong to the people who were willing to show up somewhere new and figure it out.
